So I am aasuming that you are referring the very low level capability of your driver or amps? The subtle nuances? What other drivers did you find did well beside the Vitavox. I always felt that most comperssion drivers are a little tightand need to...

I am interested to find out more information about how DEQX will help solve my issues with getting better soundstage, imaging and depth with the Edgarhorn Titans. I read some reviews from the DEQX website and sent them an email but still waiting...

Maybe it has some interest but:- Backloaded bass horns- 2" midrange driver with Beryllium membrane- 1" tweeter with Beryllium membrane- 0.5" super-tweeter "a la beryllium"sounds quite worrying to me.Nothing is said about the upperbass channel dr...

Well, first of all the phrase “rated flat to 300HZ” is kind of ambiguous. There is no such a thing as “rating” - they write whatever they wanted. Second: yes, you understand me correctly, I would prefer to have lot of room at bottom and I feel that i...
The line-level crossovers work against fixed impedance and therefore the crossover point and the time alignment does not fluctuate along with reactance of the drivers.
Okay, maybe this is a dumb question, but why wou...

I'm sorry, I thought I mentioned that I was responding to the earlier post about HF, up the thread. I guess I misunderstood from other reading that you much preferred your crossovers at line level, while I was proposing it a...

Of course, any speaker is a compromise rather than a "solution" for the complex problems of "phase", which can hardly be "solved" by fixing driver diaphragms in the same verticle plane, at least relative to the listener. Not to say that this is not w...
I want to listen to both 12db/octave and 6db/octave passive versions and see which one sounds better. And keep the one that sounds better.
Herman,

As I have finished remodeling my new Opera room:
Anthony, this is a very smart installation, IMO, because you have not "over-committed" to areas where you have work left to do, and areas you have committed to are flexible enough to allow adjustments you will likely need to do. ...

Kerry, thank you for sharing your paper diaphragm idea. Very interesting. As I remember it, the Cogent diaphragm I saw (and listened to) at Steve and Rich's place was a flat disc of something like fiberglass, and it looked relatively heavy for the ap...

Anthony, congrats on your amazing progress! I know how hard it is to carve out time for this stuff! I see you are looking for gain from your pre-amp, which makes me wonder if you have been using the passive Placette, as opposed to the active unit, wh...

Lost in Space? More like Spaced out.Taking Tramadol and Soma for a cervical problem. I listened to Art of the Portuguese Fado Guitar and everything was 3D.Kidding aside, I did some reading yesterday. Some online articles on the DEQX makes me want ...
if you could understand the basics about how audio waves especially bass range acts in closed space you wouldnt even bring the name Bass EQit just cures the sound pressure in a single spot(listener) and possibly can not do anythi...

Haralanov, let me know if you actually have something, otherwise I will continue with the Audaphon ribbon for the first round of the downward-pitching exercise. On the one hand, I wish I'd kept the Peerless 2" paper tweeters I had; on the other hand,...

Is there any abstract value to going for a preamp with a stronger output if you're using a passive xo at line level?I'd prefer to answer this question myself but i really don't have the budget to be swapping amps. How does a PLLXO interact with a non-...

I'd also start ordering the parts if Romy was able to revisit this thread. What will it take Sir,
the rally monkey? the wave? mailing you our DSP crossovers as deposits?...

Well, this concept of Defense Mode is good for superficial explanation (or for selling to ourselves own justifications) and I use to use it in past but I do not use it for a few years as unfortunately it is not what it is. The correction of “the wron...

Romy, I appreciate that this is an old thread now and that you may not remember everything from your time developing these amplifiers, but I have a (hopefully) simple question about the upperbass crossover in the schematic above. All other channels ...

Well, I do not know what should be hurtful in it. Bruce does have an idiosyncratic clientele and the absolute majority of them are heavily Morono-inclined. I told it to Bruce but he himself is not a fool and he knows it very well without my ass...

Well, how many absolutely transparent passive crossovers are there, line level or not? For me, the question is the other way round: if a passive crossover at 1 kHz can be done with good quality, I can "get away" with a single amp for the region over ...

The idea of two (or more) differing drivers covering the same range is intellectually very attractive with respect to tone, and maybe efficiency, as well. OTOH, the problem remains that very few drivers sound seriously good across the board over mo...

I think this post need to have an epigrapher:

Looking at the second picture, the side view, it looks like
a lucid loudspeaker, time-aligned I presume. I think it is time now to
experiment with some fancier drivers…. after you change the electronics and crossovers
For years, I used to have passive line level filters and tube amps - single ended 45's and 2A3's.

Jorge,
You're right about using identical amps. No doubt.
I have not used Dr. Edgar's passive network but I have tried conventional passive networks on Edgarhorns. They worked alright.
And I have...
